Educational Work
Arts education is a lifelong passion and, increasingly, the center of my professional life. As Theatre Department Chair at the New Mexico School for the Arts — a pre-professional public arts conservatory in Santa Fe — I lead a department dedicated to training the next generation of working artists. I see myself as a perpetual student because, in my view, training never truly ends. My own studies, professional work, and experiences as an educator have led me to the belief that theatre classrooms should reflect the ensemble spirit of a professional rehearsal room. In both spaces, diverse individuals come together, each contributing their unique talents, perspectives, and gifts toward a common goal. To help students achieve both their personal goals and the goals of the ensemble, I use a variety of pedagogical approaches that play to individual strengths while fostering a dynamic group environment. Whether through group exercises or individual coaching, there is always a technique that can unlock a student's creative, playful spirit. I also continue to offer guest teaching and directing at select institutions — if you'd like to explore that possibility, please don't hesitate to reach out.
